Just uploaded a draft of my love song, “Heart of a Woman” that I performed last night, and alongside Is What It Is at Celebrate Erie this year. Thanks to Steve Trohoske, http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Is-What-It-Is/167394903310874 Stix Thompson, Ian Smith, & Joel Polacci for adding their “Is What It Is-ness” to the live version, and to Anna Haller & my sis, Linsey Fleming, for singing back-up. Jennifer Dennehy also performed a gorgeous hoop dance while we sang…thanks girls!! <3

Carla C. Fleming
A childhood performer and cheerleading captain, Carla found bellydance to be a natural fit when she began studying with world-renowned instructors in 2005. She has completed her ATS (American Tribal Style Belly dance) Skills and Teaching Certifications with Carolena Nericcio of FatChanceBellyDance, and travels frequently to headline area bellydance workshops and shows, both as a solo artist and with LEBD, founded by Fleming in 2009 to become Erie's professional, multi-genre belly dance troupe. She also studies ballet, jazz, and hip-hop with the talented instructors at Long's School of the Dance, and maintains her level-1 Dancer Certification in the Suhaila Salimpour School of Bellydance.
Currently studying blues & jazz piano with Erie's Frank Singer, Carla thrives on the energy that musicians and dancers create together, both in classes and on stage, and collaborates frequently with local bands and artists. Her passion, life, and work merge together as she teaches full-time while directing The Fleming School's programs and writing her original music.
