ROCKET 101 AND BUD TRUE MUSIC BATTLE OF THE BANDS CONTEST RULES1. How To Enter:
Submit a demo recording of the band and press kit to: Rocket 101 /Battle Of The Bands, One Boston Store Place Erie, Pa 16501 by 5 p.m. Monday, January 19th 2004.
2. Eligibility: Entrants must be from within the Erie Area (as determined by contest officials). All members of participating bands must be 21 years of age. Entrants may not
be employees of Next Media, Erie Beer, Sherlock's Park Place, Diecaster Studios or Rock Erie. 3. Selection:
All entries will be reviewed by a panel of independent judges under the supervision of Rocket 101. Eighteen bands will be selected from all eligible entries received to compete in the "Battle Of The Bands".
4. Judging Criteria:
Bands competing in the "Battle Of The Bands" will be judged by a panel of five judges selected by Rocket 101 and evaluated on the following criteria: Musicianship, Material, Appearance, Stage Presence and Audience Response. Each category will be rated on a scale of 1 – 20.
5. Selection of Winners:
The eighteen bands selected will compete on consecutive Thursday nights over a six-week period beginning January 29, 2004. Three bands will perform per night with a forty-minute set. Performance dates will be determined via a random drawing on Thursday, January 22, 2004. A panel of five judges using the criteria given in section 4 will evaluate the eighteen bands. The three bands with the highest point totals at the end of the six-week competition will compete in the finals on Thursday, March 11 at Sherlock's.
Final Round: The three bands with the highest point totals at the end of the first six weeks of the competition will compete on Thursday, March 11th
at Sherlock's to determine the "Battle Of The Bands" winner. A panel of five judges using the same criteria as in the first round will evaluate the performance of the bands in the final round. All previous score will be discarded and the band with the highest point total on this night will be the "Battle Of The Bands" Champion and Grand Prize Winner.
Prizes: The first place band will receive the following: $1,000.00, a Bud sponsorship, a Saturday Night show at Sherlock's and a Cd single and promo pack from Diecaster
Studios. Runners up in the final round will receive a CD single and promo pack. General:
- All Entries, including Cd's, cassette tapes and photographs will become property of Rocket 101 and will not be returned.
- By entering the contest, entrants agree to be bound by these official rules and the decisions of the judges, which are final. The decisions of representatives from Rocket 101,
Budweiser and Sherlock's will be final in determining any disputes or disagreements concerning the contest.
- Entry constitutes permission for Rocket 101, Erie Beer Company, Rock Erie.com and Sherlock's to use the names, likenesses and biographical data of the entrants and their respective band
or group members in connection with the promotion of this and any other contest.
- Nextmedia reserves the right to broadcast all entries received.
- All participants must waive any claim of liability against Nextmedia, it affiliates and their representative employee agents, Erie Beer Company, Rock Erie and Sherlock's Park Place for
any personnel injury or loss that may occur in participation of this contest or from use of a prize.
- If it is determined that a contest participant has broken the rules in an unfair advantage they will be disqualified from the contest.
- Nextmedia reserves the right to change or alter any rule at any time without reason or notification.
- Nextmedia reserves the right to terminate the contest at any time for any reason with out notice.
