background / biography
Cutting its way through the treacherous jungle that is contemporary rock, instruments in hand, comes Spooner - the saviors of rock and roll! Developing in late summer of 2004, former Frog Tree Gorge band frontman and guitarist Jaremy Crouse and drummer Steve Barone joined forces with multi-instrumentalist Rick Sadlier of Professor Badfeet to form Erie's first post-modern rock group. After original bassist Ralph Reitinger departed, the remaining members sought out Eric Brewer to play guitar and recently added Doug Phillips on bass. The twenty-something quintet draw their inspiration from the fountains of the last four decades. this radical ecclecticism makes for an unforseen musical melting pot with equal parts funk, folk, math-rock, progressive, and grunge. yet, the final product reflects a strange melodic sensibility more at home in the early 70s than these strange days we live in.
