Tri This is a contemporary trio that performs music from a variety of genres, influenced by jazz. It incorporates rock, pop, and funk to create a sound unlike any heard before. It includes Jon O'Camb on keyboad and vocals, Chris VonVolkenburg on upright and electric basses, and Nick Caruso, who covers percussion. Tri This puts a fresh new spin on jazz standards and pop tunes alike. Jon O'Camb has been studying music since age 7. After being trained classiclly for 7 years, he decided to change to jazz. He has been studying with Basil Ronsitti. Jon is currently a freshman at Kent University. Chris VonVolkenburg has been studying both upright and electric bass for 13 years. Although classically trained by Tom Christopherson from Cleveland, he turned to jazz during his high school and college years. Chris is currently a music education major at Mercyhurst College.He is a junior. Nick Caruso started playing drums at the age of ten. He has marched for the Project Percussion indoor drum-line and plans to continue marching and teaching in the marching idiom. He currently attends Mercyhurst College, majoring in music education. He is currently a senior, graduating this spring. Tri This has performed in a variety of venues in the Erie area. They look forward to expanding their horizon in the jazz and rock scenes. They have performed at Key West Phest, Celebrate Erie, Paper Moon, Scotty's, Splash Lagoon, Gino's, and Molly Brannigans. They participated in last year's RockErie music awards. Even as a first year trio, they placed THIRD in the jazz category. This is just the beginning for the young trio.
