Don’t Give Up The Ship

Nearly 200 years ago Oliver Perry sailed in to our town.
Under orders to build up a fleet to bring the British down to their knees.
And with the help of Noah Brown, six ships rose from the ground.
Even with his lack of men he was determined to win.


Then Oliver Perry said to his men
Our adversary thought we couldn’t win
we fought so bravely to defend our shores
We have met the enemy and they are ours!

On our lake did Perry meet Captain Barclay from the royal fleet. The fight was fierce but he didn’t retreat. With his ship damaged heavily. And from the deck of the Niagara Perry accepted the Brits defeat. Barclay surrendered his ships and men. He knew it was over for him.
