background / biography
The DTz, a local band offering up heaping portions of slippery grooves & songs to sink your teeth into are ready to feed your hunger for rock & roll.
Ascribing to the notion that the song is boss, The DTz have patiently crafted a sound that pays homage to everything from 70s rock to heavy blues, four part acoustic harmonies to industrial grooves. Covering classics & obscurities by legends as diverse as BB King, CCR, Van Morrison, Jethro Tull & Pink Floyd and contemporary rockers such as Black Crowes, Jet, Tragically Hip & Blue Rodeo, The DTz serve up generous portions of sweet & crunch. What separates this bunch from standard fare is the original material. The diverse writing styles of guitarists Royce Wilson & Patrick Williams meld together, revealing a creative tension that infects The DTz catalogue of originals with everything from swamp to romp, sweet to beat. Keyboardist Lee Clarks frenetic perks & growls expand an already combustible sound, with truly engaging command of the instrument. Locking in the foundation for this ride is the kinetic pulse of Eddie Thiry on bass & Erich Semelka covering percussion. Lets just say, if you dig bottom, you will dig this band. Thiry’s infectious rumblings recall the days when rhythm didnt just move you, it cut you down. Fronting this versatile 6 pc outfit is Brad Walker. Capitalizing on the opportunity to sit in for a couple numbers, it was a very short time before he was asked to join The DTz. Combining powerful vocals & an engaging visual presence, Walker leads this band of veteran musicians across a soundscape where dynamics shift from pedal steel & boogie harp, to B3 barrages & six string madness.
Offering a homegrown tonic for what ever ails you! Come on out & shake with The DTz.
